Our Technology

At Brian K. Dennis, DDS staying current with dental technology isn't about having the newest gadgets, it's about giving you better care, faster results, and more comfortable visits. From your first exam to your final smile reveal, the tools we use shape every part of your experience. We believe an informed patient is a more confident patient, and technology plays a direct role in making that possible. Here's a look at the technology we rely on and why it matters for your oral health.

Digital X-Rays: Clearer Images, Less Radiation

Digital radiography has replaced traditional film X-rays in our office, and the difference is significant. Digital X-rays expose patients to up to 80% less radiation than conventional film while producing sharper, more detailed images instantly. There's no waiting for film to develop — your X-rays appear on screen within seconds, allowing Dr. Brian K. Dennis to review them with you in real time.

These images can be magnified and enhanced to detect concerns that might be invisible to the naked eye: early-stage cavities, bone density changes, root abnormalities, and more. Early detection almost always means simpler, less invasive treatment.

Cone Beam CT Imaging: A Full 3D Picture

For cases involving dental implants, complex extractions, or a closer look at bone structure and nerve pathways, we use cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT. This technology captures a complete three-dimensional image of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding anatomy in a single scan, something a standard 2D X-ray simply cannot provide.

CBCT imaging allows Dr. Brian K. Dennis to plan procedures with a level of precision that dramatically improves predictability and safety. Rather than estimating based on flat images, every placement decision is guided by an accurate, three-dimensional map of your unique anatomy.

Intraoral Cameras: See What We See

One of the most straightforward but impactful tools in our office is the intraoral camera — a small, pen-sized device that captures high-resolution images of the inside of your mouth. These images appear immediately on a chairside monitor, giving you a clear view of exactly what we are seeing during your exam.

When a patient can see a cracked tooth or an area of early decay for themselves, it changes the conversation. There's no guesswork and no need to take anything on faith. You leave with a clear understanding of your oral health, which makes it much easier to make confident, well-informed decisions about your care.

Digital Impressions: No More Traditional Molds

If you've ever had a crown, aligner, or other restoration, you know the experience of biting into a tray filled with impression material and waiting for it to set. Digital impressions eliminate that process entirely.

Using an intraoral scanner, we capture a precise, three-dimensional model of your teeth in minutes. There is no mess, no discomfort, and no risk of impressions shifting or distorting. The digital model is immediately available to work with, which speeds up the design and fabrication process for restorations and orthodontic appliances alike.

Same-Day Crowns With CAD/CAM Technology

Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) allows us to design, mill, and place certain ceramic crowns in a single appointment. Rather than sending an impression to an off-site lab and waiting one to two weeks while wearing a temporary crown, many patients leave our office with a permanent, custom-fitted restoration the same day.

The crown is milled from a high-quality ceramic block selected to match the color and translucency of your natural teeth, then bonded in place, all within the same visit. For patients with busy schedules, this is a meaningful improvement over the traditional multi-appointment process.

Laser Dentistry: Precise, Comfortable, Efficient

Dental lasers have expanded what's possible in both general and cosmetic care. We use soft tissue lasers for a range of procedures, including gum contouring, treatment of gum disease, and minor tissue reshaping as part of smile design work.

Lasers allow for precise treatment with minimal bleeding, reduced swelling, and faster healing compared to traditional instruments. Many soft tissue procedures performed with a laser require no sutures at all. For patients who experience dental anxiety, the quieter, gentler nature of laser treatment is often a welcome change.

Teeth Whitening Technology: Professional-Grade Results

Over-the-counter whitening products are widely available, but they work within narrow limits. The professional-grade whitening systems we use in our office contain higher concentrations of active whitening agents and are applied under controlled conditions, which means better results and a lower risk of sensitivity or uneven application.

We also offer take-home whitening trays made from your digital impressions, giving you a custom-fit option that outperforms generic strip-based products. Whether you prefer in-office treatment or the flexibility of whitening at home, we can match the approach to your preferences and your timeline.

Digital Smile Design: See Your Smile Before Treatment Begins

For patients considering cosmetic work, whether that's veneers, bonding, whitening, or a full smile makeover, Digital Smile Design gives you a preview of your potential outcome before any treatment begins. Using photographs and digital planning tools, Dr. Brian K. Dennis can show you how proposed changes will look, allowing for an open, collaborative conversation about your goals.

This process takes the uncertainty out of cosmetic dentistry. You're not committing to a result you can't see first. You're making decisions based on a clear visual plan that reflects your unique facial features, proportions, and preferences, and it helps ensure that the final result aligns with your expectations from the start.
